Yes May is over and we’re already 1 week into June, but today I’m throwing it back a week so I can talk about the beauty products that I loved last month!

1. Boscia Konjac Sponge Trio
I first heard about these Konjac cleansing sponges back in December when I was shopping at Sephora for Christmas presents, but I forgot about them until April of this year. At first I thought “why the heck would I spend $19 on 3 tiny sponges?” and then I realized that I splurge every few months on a new Beauty Blender Sponge, so I decided not to be so critical until I tried them out for myself. Halfway through May while I was on vacation, I decided to splurge and purchase the sponge trio and I’m really glad I did because these sponges have helped my skin out quite a bit! The trio includes 1 white sponge for all skin types, 1 back bamboo charcoal sponge for oily-combination skin, and 1 red deep hydrating clay sponge for dry skin. Each sponge lasts for 3 months and they have strings attached at the top, so you can hang them up to air dry (apparently that prevents bacteria from growing on them!). Although they’re small in the package, they double in size once they’re soaked in water, as sponges usually do, and they’re the prefect size to use around the nose and eye area. So how do you use the sponge? Exactly as you would use a washcloth! I put one pump of cleanser directly on to rounded part of the expanded sponge and then gently massage my face with it in circles. After, I rinse my soapy face with lukewarm water, apply my moisturizer, and wash the sponge to remove any excess soap. I hang it up to dry in my shower and it’s all ready for the next use! I’ve used both the white and black sponges and so far I’ve noticed that my skin doesn’t feel as oily as it usually does and the majority of the blackheads on my nose have disappeared. I haven’t used the red sponge yet because I usually have dry skin in the winter months, so I can’t speak on that one. I don’t really notice a difference between the black and white sponge, so if you’re debating between the two, I would suggest using the white one since it’s recommended for all skin types. So far I’m not regretting this purchase and I’ll most likely try the other Konjac sponges in the Boscia line! If you don’t want to spend the money on the Boscia Konjc sponges, I’ve seen other brands online carry Konjac sponges, so I’d suggest checking those ones out as an alternative.
2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer + Treatment – Light/Medium
I’m not usually a liquid concealer wearer, but recently I’ve been experimenting with different concealer formulas. This concealer is my top pick out of all the other concealers that I’ve tried so far (more on this in a future post), and I use it to cover up my acne and my acne scars. It’s not a full coverage concealer (I would say it has a light-medium coverage), but it’s not cake-y, it blends really easily with the sponge on the tip or with a Beauty Blender sponge, and it stays on for the entire day, even on my oily skin. I know some people use this concealer as an under eye brightener, but the shade that I’m using matches my skin perfectly, so I can’t comment on how well it can brighten the under eye area. The only issues that I have with this product is that I’m not sure how much concealer is in the tube and there’s no way to clean the sponge. This concealer does exactly what it claims to do and so far it’s at the top of my affordable drugstore concealer list!
3. Maybelline Pure BB Cream – Light/Medium
I started wearing the Maybelline Pure BB Cream last year and it’s the best drugstore face product that I’ve ever come across. I’ve been wearing tinted moisturizers and BB creams for 2 years now because they have a light and natural coverage, but this is the first BB cream that I’ve tried that is specifically formulated for acne prone skin. This BB cream has 2% salicylic acid and it does a good job covering up light acne and treating it at the same time. I love using it because it conceals my redness, it doesn’t clog my pores, and it can be used with or without a primer. A little dollop of this BB cream goes a long way, so although the tube looks small, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. If you’re giving this BB cream a shot, I would suggest applying it with a dampened Beauty Blender sponge!
4. Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof – Black Lace
I’ve repurchased this eye liner pencil from the Sephora Collection at least 8 times and honestly, I can’t live without it. The eye liner is extremly pigmented, creamy (almost as creamy as the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in the shade Perversion), and long lasting. I wear this eyeliner on my tight line and I don’t have a problem with it budging for at least 8 hours. I wouldn’t say that it’s completely waterproof, but it does hold up well through rain, sweat and tears, and it requires an oil based eye makeup remover to remove all traces of it. For the price, I would suggest this eye liner pencil over eye liner pencils from other high end makeup brands!
